Steering Wheel Lock

Recently acquired 2012 Escape with auto trans. Just replaced ignition lock module. Key start works great now & easy job if you're used to working on cars & have tools. YouTube videos by fordtechmakuloco are best. Noticed afterwards that there is no lock function working on steering wheel - probably that way when I got the car. Service receipts given me by PO show old complaint of "difficult to turn wheel once then ok since" Dealer response was "quoted new steering column-owner declined". Maybe that's a clue? Something broke? Can't find any info online about the lock. The brake switch & park switch seem ok. I'll probably just live with it as is but curious. Anyone know where the lock is located & how it's supposed to work?
