Can anyone tell me where the camshaft position sensor is located on a 2L single cam engine, and how do I replace it?

Can we ask why you might be after the cam sensor?

The reason I am asking is; just because we get a cam sensor code does not always mean the cam sensor itself is malfunctioning..
If you would like to post the code , maybe there could be another possibility, what do you think?

Sorry for the late reply, Ford alternators sometimes have problems that show up in different ways and one of them is they will cause a false code P0340 to come up.
If you can clear the code, then unplug the plug on the alternator and take a short ride ,. the charging light may come on . but we want t know if the code P0340 resets. If it does not, the alt has a problem.If not, just plug the alt plug back in. If the alt has too much of an AC ripple voltage it will trip off a code P0340 . One of those unrelated things.

I sent a reply to your last comment a few days back but I guess you did not receive it. I'm not a serious car guy so have a little patience with me. So, I clear the code, disconnect the alternator, take a short drive and if the code does not reappear the alternator is bad? Will the AC ripple show up if I take the alternator to an auto parts store and have them check it?

It depends on if their equipment checks for that.. It is much easier to just unplug the alt than to remove it. If it indicates the cause for throwing the false P0340 code then I would replace it . Ford alternators do some unusual things, for example , we could change an alternator for not charging , install a rebuilt , now it charges OK , but now the light won't go out.. Some rebuilders have trouble getting them right. If you have a rebuilder locally, and you need to have it repaired your chances of getting everything right are better.
