Default Lost as to where to look

I have 96 zx2
It overheated and shut down
I made all of the repairs and no more over heating
the problem is if I let the car sit for a week the next time I go to start it, all it will do is crank, no fire
It stays that way until I let the battery drain to no charge at all
Recharge the battery and it starts right up
Thanks for any help

Can we try this,
remove the battery negative cable after a no start episode and wait a few minutes then reconnect it and try to start it then. What result do you get? If it starts OK then we go one way, if not, then we go another way.
