98 Escort zx2 Engine problems

New user here, looks like a nice forum :) So to the problem, I have a 98 zx2 , It left my wife stranded at work :( (started for her that morning no problems) waited a couple days to go get it and it started right up, got it home, tried starting it the next couple of days - no go. tried again another day and started right up... so it seems to be hit or miss when it will or wont start. When it doesnt want to start, the engine will just roll over and over. Of course when I got time to work on it, it starts right up.

I checked fuel pressure - around 30+psi
I checked one spark plug wire so far and it had spark.

I did notice in each of the spark plug holes there was oil, and oil on the spark plug wire boots. 3 of the spark plugs had oil close to the porcelain shaft on the spark plugs, while the other only had a little bit of oil. (to give you an idea of how much oil was in there.)
Would this cause the car not to start randomly - fowling out the plugs etc?
When you find oil like this in there what would typically be the cause?
I will be changing the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires for sure.
Thanks for any tips/Info.

Welcome to the site..

We're the fuel and spark tested during a no start condition?
