Anybody know of or have a wire schematic of the obd2
Diagnostic connector. Any help would be great.

What are you trying to trace, maybe we can list the pins and where they are used or where they go.

This is on of the strangest things I have seen all the pins in the obd2 connector is loose
I am having to plug in a code reader to keep my speedometer working.if I unplug the code reader my speedometer stops working. I was just trying to see if the speed or the vehicle speed sensor wires were tied in some how.
That is the 1st problem. But I will have to post one at a time.

In trying to locate a diagram or other DLC info there appear to be several versions of how the pins in the the 16 pin connector are used. Some are standard and some are specific to a specific year and model. Until I can locate one specifically for the 1998 Escort , it might be a good idea to check all the fuses. Certain pins are the same for all models and different models have different designations for the remaining pins.
I will at least list the standard uses and if someone has the specific set-up for a 98 Escort that would be great.
Facing the data link connector there are two rows of pins.
Starting at the top left , pins are numbered 1 to 8
second row down the pins are numbered left to right 9 to 16.
The standard pins are;

pin 4- Chassis ground
pin 5- Signal ground
pin 16 -Battery power
The remaining pins are for use with specific scan tools or reserved for future use.

No speedometer, horn, and trbine sensor fault code.Plug in scan tool and and it all works just fine. Unplug scan tool and it all stops ? Have all ready checked all grounds. Horn relay, fuses. Thought I had it with blue ground wire, Because they all use it but no good. Has any one seen this before ?

I hope you are not just looking at them and figuring that looks OK because they can look good and still have a poor connection. Need to loosen ,clean the contact surfaces and reinstall the bolts.

TSS or VSS fault?

You checked the ground near the batt neg?

Horn, speedo, VSS, DLC share the ground. The DLC has 2 grounds, could be that you have a ground fault on 1, and when the scan tool connects it completes. There's a M/F connector by the battery that the ground connections come through. Doubt it would be down towards the starter or you would have more or other issues..
