'98 Ford Escort SE Wheel Problems
 

I have multiple problems with my 4-door Ford Escort. I've had my wheels realigned since I was hit from the side, and the people at the tire place said that's the best they could do. Now I've been having problems since shortly after that.

When I get above 35 miles per hour, the car starts getting really loud and shaky. It's been said that the engine might be loose.

Very recently, I've started hearing this mild scraping/grinding noise at lower speeds, and it goes in a pattern as if the sound is coming from the wheel itself. It's been said it might be the bearing.

When I'm in idle, and at very low speeds I hear this jingling/rattling sound coming from under the car, as if there's a small metal plate loose.

When I press the brake when I'm at high speeds, it sometimes emits this almost burning smell. I think the brake pads may need replacing.

And lastly, there's a light out on the dash, any idea how I'd get to it?

I know I'm a total novice when it comes to cars, and that's why I've come to these forums. Please help!

Edit: When I'm going around a curve to the right, the shaking/rattling noises all stop and it's almost silent.

It doesn't take much of a hit to damage a tire or at least knock it out of balance. That is what makes your car shake. Raise the car on jack stands and turn a wheel by hand. observe if the tire is round or bulging and do this from various angles. If they seem good have them balanced.
The scraping and metallic noises may come from the brakes. Closely inspect them (don't inhale the dust!). Only changing pads may not be enough I suspect that your brakes do not retract properly. Also make sure the caliper can slide in and out.
