Default 99 esort idle problems ,low pressure ac switch

i have a 99 ford escort sohc 2.o, im having problems with a rough idle when in gear or when ac is on. i read a post on another forum that said disconnect the wiring to the bottom of the ac compressor, he said this causes a lot of vaccuum draw but never explained what the wires connect to other than saying the pressure switch. believe it or not it worked , car runs like new ac still blows cold. i have been thru all the normal fixes , cleaned iac, checked for vacuum leaks , cleaned maf sensor, checked egr and pcv, none of them changed the problem, it still existed. if someone could explain what these wires connect to, i believe they go to the preesure sensor on top of the drier, my only problem is i dont understand if ive isolated the problem to the ac , why did it idle rough while in gear without the ac on. and does anyone know if these wires connect to more than the pressure switch, like the clutch possibly otr the fan motor. thanks if you can help.
