Default Cruise control

I have a 1997 escort auto with a 2.0 sohc. I also have a 98 auto 2.0 sohc with cruise control my 97 don't. I would like to know what all it takes to make my 97 have cruise. I know that I have to change my steering wheel and servo that has a plug in. Would that do it or would I have to do more work? I also would like to know about power mirrors 98 has them and the 97 don't does anybody know if the wiring harness it there for the mirrors. Thanks

Two different electrical packages from the factory. One has what is called electrical power group(pwr mirrors & cruise) the other does not ( non power group). The difference is in the fuse boxes and harnasses. Fuse boxes may have missing pin connectors in them and harnasses have missing wires. It's not just components. If you have the time and patience to swap out or build harnass, it will work.

So I just got done putting electric mirrors on my escort. That did not have power anything. It is just a plain jane escort no power cruise option. Just to let other people know the wiring is in the door and my fuse block was wired up to put the fuse in. So this makes me wonder if I can put cruise onit?

cruise control is a little more involved than the mirrors. your car may have the wiring for the cruise as well but it will require you looking under the hood near the coolant reservoir. if the car has the cruise wiring it is simply a matter of installing 3 main parts. If your car does not have the wiring you can either install the 3 main parts then do the wiring or you can purchase the dealer installed version which will add a control stalk to the side of the steering column near the turn indicators.
