hey everyone im new to this forum and i have a 93 escort lx 1.9 5 speed and its been haveing this random problem of the rpms surging up and than back down it will sometime stumble and get close to stalling but it will catch its self and continue the samething all over again also when im driving it will keep the rpms up pretty high when pushing in the clutch than they will drop back down and continue the same thing at idle also when driving the rpms stay up so high that i can take my foot of the accelrator and it will keep a steady speed. so if anyone can give me some suggestions on this problem that will be awesome.

i would think it could be your alternator im running into problems with my f-150 that has a lot of vibration and a slight clicking noise when idoling do you have anything on that..
