Ford Escort ZX2 Gutter Cat .. passing inspection..

I have a 2000 ford escort zx2. I gutted out the catalitic converter. After doing so had check engine light for about a month then went off. Trying to get my inspection passed. I have had no check engine light for about 4 months now. I took my car to get it inspected. The test shows that the O2 sensors are not ready. The guy there told me car needs more drive time. He told me drive 50 miles, and so I did. Came back and they were still not ready so he told me drive it around some more and come back tommarrow. Ok, now the thing I wanna know is... is there some kinda pressure sensor not letting the O2 sensor read? or some how the sensors can detect when the catalitic insides are not there due to pressure making the O2 sensors not go into ready mode?... or do i need to keep driving around in circles till a miracle happens?.. lol
This POST IS URGENT NEED RESPONCES SOON!!!! thanks

Certain checks can't be run unless everything is working properly. the computer monitors all the emission equipment and when it doesn't get a reasonable reply it will not complete the tests. I could be wrong , but You may need to replace that converter.

yah idk

i kind of think i will have to put in convert for it to be enable to get it to pass... took it back up there today ...test shows:
Catalyst: Not Ready
O2 Sens: Not Ready
O2 Sens Htr: Not Ready
Evap: Not Ready
and 2 fault codes:
P0751-Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off
P0420-Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

There must have been a reason for you to go after the converter. What kind of problem did the vehicle have or were you just trying something new?

umm

well was running very bad a year or so ago (low idle) ..took it to mechaninc and he said it had melted converter.. and told me how i can temp fix it...so i did and turns out that it wasnt the converter that was the problem it was the spark plugs.. car was having misfires so i changed out plugs and started running good.. gutting the cat was hard as hell on this car..

Not knowing what the state rules are where you need to have it inspected ,but some states have exceptions that will allow for certain problems.
It does appear that you will have to replace that converter and do whatever repairs are necessary to get it through inspection.

You will definitely need to replace your convertor. The down stream o2 sensor reads convertor efficiency. With out the catalyst in it, it wont be very efficient. You got some bad advice from and bad mechanic, now you have to fix the problems he caused for you.
