Fuel pump?
 

Recently, my car died while cruising home from work. The inertia switch seems to be good, but I am thinking that the issue/s lies somewhere in the fuel line system. When turning over the car, I can hear the fuel pump fire up, but the engine will not turn over. The pump seems to have difficulties maintaining fuel line pressure.

Is it the pump itself of something else somewhere between the pump and the motor? Any suggestions on where to look next would be appreciated. :confused:

Would like to offer some possible help, but my crystal ball isn't working so I need your help with some information like the vehicle make , model, year,mileage and if possible engine size. Welcome to the site , by the way !
Since Ford does make changes during a model year , some of that info is necessary to determine what equipment your vehicle might contain. Thanks !

Vehicle is a 91 Ford Escort. 120,000 miles. It has a 4 cylinder engine, but I am not sure of the exact specs. It has been a good little commuter, but I don't want to throw more money into it than it is worth (paid 400 bucks for it).
