indicator of a bad valve seat
I am looking at buying a 94 escort wagon with the 1.9l engine. 92,000 miles. The only thing I read that are really serious issue is about the valve seat coming out. Is there anything to look for as an indicator before I buy? Thanks for you help.

Thanks for you help. matt :eek: Hello and good day: I have owned 6 different Escort in 14yr's...from and 1984..to a.....2002, and with a little TLC, proper maintenance, Oil changes, Belts...etc they will run for a very long time. The 1.9L engine is a good reliable engine....and I have not heard of any problems with a Valve Seating problem. My question is where have you gotten this information,,,,and are your sources reliable?? A 1994 with 92K on it is in my opinion a Bargin....However I would recommend you take the car to a good Mechanic to have them do a thorough inspection....If this is an Automatic Transaxle...check the Fluid for signs of serious transmission ware...If not sure how this is done....get back to us. Good luck with this......6 |
