No power/throttle response

Im having an issue with my 95 escort wagon, 1.9l. After it warms up it will barely pull itself from a dead stop even if you throttle completely open. Rpms stay low or non existent. What could be possible problems. 167,000 MLS. Automatic Tran.

Since we have to start someplace, suppose we start with the exhaust system.
If the exhaust system is restricted, there is one way to check it.
Get hold of a good vacuum gauge and connect it to some tap on the intake manifold.
Start the engine and note the vacuum gauge reading, then raise the RPM up to around 2000 RPM If the reading on the gauge starts to drop and continues to drop while holding 2000 RPM, there is a restriction in the exhaust system. Could be plugged converter, maybe collapsed internal part in the muffler or pipes. If the vacuum reading drops and comes up , move on to another possibility.Let's see what you find before moving on to something else.
