Default Zx2 duratec

Hey everyone...

I searched for this topic but didn't find anything on it...hope it's not a repeat.

I am a new owner of a '99 Zx2, and I love the car. But as a former Contour owner, I am wondering if anyone has installed a 2.5l Duratec engine in a Zx2? Is it even possible? I'm very interested in the idea.

Are you talking about zetec? It mostly depends on the size of the engine, if this duratec engine can fit under the hood than it can most likely be custom installed, if not then dont try it.

Not Zetec, no. The 2.0l in the Zx2 sport is the Zetec that was used in the 4 cyl. Contour and Mystique. But the Contour and Mystique were also sold with the 2.5l Duratec V6 with 170 hp. I know that engine was shoe-horned in to those cars, but I think it MIGHT be possible to squeeze it into a Zx2, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm really just curious if it's been done. Come to think of it, the 2.5l was also used in the Mercury Cougar, which is not really a very big car either.
