Ford Excursion Question

I'm very instersted in buying a 2001 Excursion which is Diesel has 90,000 miles and there asking $15,000 for it but this truck is mint inside & out. Now my main question is. How good is this truck in Diesel. I travel a total of 46 miles a day to work & back so how good in gas will this SUV be. Right now i have a 2002 Dodge Durango & I'm spending $115 a week in Gas

RE: Ford Excursion Question

any dodge gas engine is know for poor fuel milleage. I have a 2001 F-350 crewcab 4x4 that I drive a total of 64 miles a day to and from work, just about all freeway. I do have many mods and run full synthetics lubricants. I normally work 7 days a week and travel approx. 520 by the time you factor in lunch time and little trips from home to the local store. With the average prive of diesel in my area being around $2.45, I have never spent more than $80 in a 7 day period for fuel. I do have a heavy foot when traveling the few city miles that I travel and normally set the cruise around 78 on the freeway. My truck has always been properly maintained and I do plug the block heater in whenever it is parked at work or home if the temps are going to be below 40 degrees. Maybe I over use the block heater a bit, but I really like having heat right when I start the truck in the morning and I don't pay for the electric at work, so I might as well enjoy the benefits of using it.

RE: Ford Excursion Question

I have a 2001 limited Powerstroke Excursion with 154,000 on the ticker.

I was getting about 16.5 around town, between dallas and fort worth ....but can get 18 on the highway if I keep it under 65mph.

I do not tow anything or carry any heavy loads, just me up and down the highways.

I don't have a muffler and did not ever have a cat. I'm running an aftermarket Tymar intake. Using a MCST tuner set on the high setting all the time.

Run on bio-diesel most of the time 100%, except when it get below 28 degrees, then go with a 50/50 mix.
