2000 ford expedition

I just changed out the fuse for the aux power port next to the cigarette lighter on the front dash. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make it only on when the car is on? It appears to be powered all the time. Thank you in advance.

Before making any decision , can we ask what you plan to power from this port? Why did you need to replace the fuse?
What you are asking can be done without too much problem, but that is how a lot of folks get into trouble not knowing how much the appliance will draw power wise and if the wiring can handle the load.

I have a bluetooth streaming device plugged in. Here are the specs.....

Specifications:
USB Charging Port Output: 5V/2.1A
Voltage: 5 V + / - 0.5
Working Current: 45mA (Max)
Stand-by Current: 25mA (Max)

It also has a usb port apart of the bluetooth device and I use that port to charge my Galaxy edge 6.

Not sure why the fuse went out. Its been awhile since I even used it, but I just remember it wasn't working for the longest time.

From what you describe , it would just involve moving the wire from one fused circuit to one that is controlled by the key.
Sometimes unwanted things manage to get into the power port like "coins" and they manage to create an electrical short circuit and of course the fuse is there so bigger problems are prevented.Probably does not apply , but worth mentioning.
