Broken Idler pully, 97 Expedition
 

I broke the bolt mount that holds my passsenger side idler pulley. I read that it was a stupid design to have a cheap peice molded onto the front part of the engine there and that other people have broken that part as well. My question is, is it safe to fix it by using a longer bolt, washers etc. or do you have to replace the entire front section of the engine there?

I have the same problem on 2000 crown vic 4.6, does the pully mount extend through timing chain cover,
