Door Ajar Chime Driving me Crazy
Hello, well I am back with yet another issue that I hope you all can help me with (again) - My 2002 Expo XLT 5.4L is driving me crazy. The door ajar chime constantley goes off while driving. I have checked every door window, lock, fuses - everything that I can think of. Does anyone know how to disable or unplug something to make this horrible dinging go away?
Thanks for any input / suggestions, Kiley |
A good first check is to check for anything out of place under the seat that the seatbelt system may be seeing the seat belt as not connected.

Hanky,
Thanks for the response - question, is the seatbelt system and door ajar system one in the same? I did the WD-40 trick that was recomended on a quick search of this site. The problem stopped but only for 3 days - wife just called me to advise "its back". If I keep treating the door latch area with WD-40 maybe it will completley clean the sensor? I am at a loss. Thanks, Kiley |
Are you getting the door ajar light at the same time with the chime?
If so it could be one of the switches or the GEM module (Body control module). |
Hi every one,
I also was having a problem with the Liftgate glass door ajar sensor. I decided to use some WD forty as some people had suggested. I could not find my can of it, but I found a spray can of Napa carburetor and throttle body cleaner. I gave it a generous application of this. Then the sensor stayed on all the time. I thought I guess I will wait till the weekend and short out the sensor. The next morning the sensor light did not come on. It’s been about three weeks and it is working perfectly. Just thought I would share how I solved my problem. Eugene |
chime problem
i used to have the same problem with the chime. if you look in the manual there is a trick u can do to disable the seat belt chime all together. i believe its something like insert seatbelt 3 times wait untill the seat belt light turns off on the dash and then turn lights on then off... i might have it wrong a little but it worked for me. i drive a 2004 expedition...
