I have an '03 Expedition and I started it yesterday and heard a horrible engine knocking sound (think it was coming from the engine). I had not heard this beforer. Checked the oil and it looks okay. Any ideas???

Did the knock go away? Some aftermarket oil filters do not have a drain back in them and will allow oil to drain down on the system. Also, what oil are you using? I believe this engine is a close tolerance motor and demands 5w20 oil and nothing heavier. Seen folks run 10w30 in them and ruin the motor.
