Default What Caused This Problem To Happen?

Hello, today I was driving on the interstate approximately 70 mph, when my 2003 Expedition (131K miles) began to slow down without me taking my foot off of the accelerator. The engine stayed on, and there were no problem lights on the dash board. Basically it was like the transmission had gone into neutral, but the gearshift showed that it was still in the Drive gear. When pressing the gas, the engine would rev up, but the vehicle would not accelerate. I pulled over and shut the engine off. Then I tried to start it right back up, and it just kept trying to crank, but wouldn't start. I then took the keys out of the ignition for about 2 or 3 minutes, and tried to start it again. This time it started right up as usual. I then got back on the interstate for another half hour and everything was normal. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
