I recently purchased a 99' expedition. It only came with 1 working key, I bought 2 new ones from ebay and had them cut. While reading the manual that I downloaded I found that you need 2 working keys to program more. I called the dealership, and they said that it would be $80 dollars. Is there anyway to program these keys without going to the dealer?

 

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there isn't. But there are a couple of Ford techs on the site that roam once in awhile, I am sure they can tell you for sure. Mulletman is one of them.

Ford uses a "PATS" system for anti-theft which deters a thief from copying your key and stealing your car unless it is programmed.

I am sorry to say, but you must take it to the dealer to have those keys programmed and must have at least 2 keys to do it. They can also do an "erase" and reprogram all 3 keys with a new code if you are worried about an old key floating around.
