Default 2004 Expedition knocking sound

there is a very ANNOYING knocking sound going on in the back passenger area. It started last night, and happens the ENTIRE time I'm driving. It is coming from the back panel area, as you can really hear it when you put your ear up to that area. anybody know what it is, or how to get rid of it? Thanks!

Lets just hope someone on the assembly line didn't get funny by tying a coke bottle on a piece of rope under the interior panel with a note inside saying, HaHa you found me you lucky SOB.

It might be the rear end that you are hearing, they wil make a thunk, thunk sound. See if it goes away during acceleration and then comes back during coasting .

Did you actually look under the vehicle and check if something has come loose or is stuck under there?

I have a 2004 also and ours had a knock at aprox 2 to 3 second intervals when running the rear A/C - heater fan? It turned out to be some environmental component (not sure what it is yet) on the inside RH side the vehicle between the 2nd and 3rd row seat (above and slightly fwd of right rear tire). I simply pulled up an interior panel and felt what item was clicking and simply unplugged it. Everything is working normal with the A/C and heat. I will investigate what the item does and repair it once the weather gets a bit better.

Default Faulty coils causing knocking

Had a very similar and recurring issue.

Traced the knocking to the sub-woofer. The knocking was some electrical feedback coming from one, or more, faulty coils. The coil(s) were failing, but not enough to register a code, or cause any perfromance issues.

I am STILL having coil issues. Anyone install aftermarket coils and with better results? I replaced with ACCER and am considering trying Weapon X.

Dave
