Slight stuttering under load 1999 Expy.

Hello,
I was driving on the highway today and had cruise set at 90km/55mph.When I started going up a fairly long grade the truck seemed to stutter slightly,I turned cruise off and accelerated a bit and stuttering stopped.then when I was on a side road going uphill at about 60km/40mph it seemed to do it again.Any ideas? Thanks for the help!

What engine's in the Exp, 4.6, 5.4,, and how many miles on the clock? If you can, have the code read at the local parts house like Autozone.. They'll check the DTC at no cost, and it gives a little better direction to look for the related misfire.. Is the CEL steady on, or flashing?

Sorry for the lack of info. The truck is a '99 with 5.4l and 176000km on the clock. From what I've read here it almost sounds like a cylinder not firing.I'll probably take it to Ford this week.I live in Western Canada, and we just got about 10-12inches of snow last night so I have to use it.Also we don't have an Autozone here to get it checked for free.Ford will probably charge quite a bit. Thanks for replying.

By the way the light is steady on.It didn't come on until the problem worsened.

My Ford dealership charges a flat rate of $75 if they ever hook an OBDII scanner to your vehicle. . I learned that the hard way. Hope you can find an auto parts store that can do it for free.
