Uphill knocking

2000 EB Expidition 5.4 V8 (108K) 4x4

ISSUE #1
When I am driving up a hill as the RPM's decrease I begin to hear a knocking/grinding sound. I can feel the vibrations coming through the pedal. If I decelerate it will stop. If I accelerate through it I can get it to stop.

ISSUE #2
When I accelerate (foot on the gas)I hear a fast paced clicking/rattling sound. When my foot is off the gas I do not hear this noise. This is uphill ,downhill ,or on flat surfaces. This issue occurred beforethe issue listed above. Are they related? Did this issue cause the other, or are they related?

Any leads would be appreciated.
