This gets a little complicated because,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
foot on brake required--electrical permission
security system , most likely on vehicle will not allow start if correct info is not received from FOB.
Some use occupant presence on seat in order to work.
If that's not enough, it gives you some idea ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DON'T MESS WITH IT !!

About the only reason it wouldn't start would be if the transmitter battery went flat..

During a start, (if ignition switch type equipped,) when the ignition switch is turned to Start (or if push button equipped) and the engine start/stop switch and the brake pedal are pressed simultaneously,, the PCM and BCM receive a start request for the engine.
Either ignition system option/function,, is the PCM then recognizes the correct inputs from the BCM (body control module) and TR sensor (trans range sensor_P/N) and applies voltage and ground for the starter relay to close the starter relay contacts, cranking the engine via the starter solenoid.
The PCM (powertrain control module) disengages the starter motor once an engine RPM speed is met, or, a set cranking time is exceeded, or the ignition switch optioned,,its turned to off.. If a start/stop button optioned,, button is pressed.
So,, the systems are more alike than not, and not simple old school 'key' hardware design as days gone by.. The transmitter has an onboard key for entry, so unless the transmitter battery dies, the vehicle battery suffers the same fate at some point, not a huge concern IMO.. What I don't care for with push button,, is the fact that to roll the windows up/down etc, the engine has to be started, transmitter can't be locked inside the car. (I keep a secured remote/key locked inside my 250 for the 'just in case' or someone needs to use/move the truck while away).
That said, the push button isn't much of negative concern...
