03 Exp XLT 4.0 AC compressor bypass

My compressor literally exploded. Two lower mounting bolts have been removed, upper bolt snapped off in recessed bolt hole. Making it impossible, for me (the amateur) to access it. My question is this, can I bypass the a/c with a shorter serpentine belt... without affecting proper motor function? At this time, I cannot afford the 14-1500 to have the system fixed.

edit: The stock serpentine belt is 85.5" in length, I used a belt 71.5" to bypass a/c compressor. $21 and I'm back in business! Until I get my funds
together for the "correct" repair. I hope this helps.

A thank you.

Created an account just to personally thank you. The length was perfect and was up and running in no time. Considering how expensive a new compressor is this saves me so much money. My belt snapped after the compressor seized and car over heated momentarily, but after pulling into a mall parking lot and walking to a parts store for your belt size, I was right as rain. Thanks again.

With any compressor bypass, you loose the de-humidify portion of the defrost function.. Heated air for the defrost won’t have moisture removed without an AC compressor run in defrost modes.
