Default 1997 radio and door keypad programming

I would like to replace the radio and door lock keypad in my wife's 1997 Explorer 4 door XLT. The radio on/off volume button will not shut off and is spotty on volume, and the door keypad does not light up. I bought a keypad at the salvage yard and I have seen OEM radios for sale on Ebay but they mentioned that the Ford dealer might need to program them, is it necessary to do anything to replace either of these items if you are swapping them for the same thing.

Thanks,
Randy

The Ford radio's have a problem with the Keypad on All Their radios , The Silver contact material etches on to the board , causing the Function to lock up , Therefore locking up the Processor clock , the PCB is Available from H & R radio , Warminster , Pa. the last I Heard , but it is the board , I Used to Replace Hundreds of them , or repair with a Circuit pen .
