I had my oil changed at the regular place last week and took an 1100 mile round trip this weekend in my 1999 Mountaineer with 180,000 miles. Just a few miles before we got home while stopped at a red light I heard a sqeaking noise, which I thought might be the belt. When I got home and raised the hood, I heard something that sounded like the lifters? When at idle the squeak sound isheard and when accerlerating the engine, you can hear what sounds like the lifter valves. The oil level is fine.....

Any ideas what to check, where to start?
