2001 xlt AWD system
new wiferecently boughtan '01 Ford Explorer XLT with AWD. It's coming closer to winter and I've been trying to find info on the AWD system for this model to no avail.
Does anyone have a system description for this model? I.E.-- I know it's full time AWD but is it a 60-40 power split, does it have any kind of limited slip or mechanical traction control properties, etc.?
ALSO, based upon that description, what should I expect if it gets sideways as far as correction? I have driven both RWD and FWD vehicles in snow and ice but never an AWD. Would hate to try to correct as I would in an RWD only to find that it has some mechanical anti-slip that I'm suddenly working against!
Any help or other resources would be much appreciated!!! THANKS!!!

i have a 4x4 xlt that is awd until it slips then its automatic 4x4 but i can also put it into all time 4x4 but a switch....
if its like mine if 1 wheel slips the other 3 take over and vise versa---sideways comp is just like a car because the explorer wont know that you are going sideways and thus not ingage the 4x4.
