I have a 2004 Explorer with AWD. I'm having an issue when reversing. If i am stopped and turn the wheel before backing I feel the front wheel binding like it is in 4 wheel drive. As i accelerate the truck violently slams and the wheel breaks loose and turns normal but the initial slam feels like a CV axle breaking. This does not happen if i reverse before turning the wheel. Also after the violent slam the 4 wheel drive indicator light engages. Any recommendations besides take it to a mechanic?
