2015 Explorer- external thermometer causing hot air to blow?

If anyone knows if this is a common thing, please let me know. I am utterly baffled.

All Of the sudden, my 2015 explorer start blowing hot air when the control is set to 70 degrees. Weird.

I look ol at the outside temp and it displays -32 and is jumping all over the place. Mostly stays below zero.

When end it works CORRECLT, air conditioner works great and auto setting works for temp controls.

My explorer der seems to think it’s in Chicago in January and making accommodations for INSIDE temp.

Its 90 degrees outside and my heat is blowing when the dash is set to LO and the air conditioner is on.

Ideas, thoughts? Please help

It sounds like your vehicle's "Ambient air temp sensor" has gone out lunch. They are usually located inside the grille just in front of the radiator.
You can probably pick one up at a local dealership, .Now you know what it looks like and can look for it behind the grille. Once you spot it , replacing it is simple, take one off and put one on and plug in the new sensor.
