Hi everyone. i've got a 2005 Sportrak 4.0 rwd with a dead engine. i found a good deal on a 2006 Explorer 4.0 4wd w a dead trans. i plan to take the motor out & scrap the rest. While looking at the Ex, i noticed it has a drive-by-wire system, & a different intake manifold. My Trak has a mechanical cable throttle & a the intake manifolds different. By intake manifold, i mean the part with 6 runners that bolts to the engine block. Not the intake tube that connects to the air-filter box. Anyway, can i use the parts off of my 2005 motor & put them on the 2006 to make it work in my 2005 Sportrak? i've tried looking for a '05 4.0, no salvage yard in town has 1. Thanks for any & all help.

 

Of course, you can. Use all parts off your 2005 engine that are different on the '06. You are far better off staying with the old style throttle body worked by cable. I believe the 4.0 blocks were identical up to at least 2010, so parts should fit. Good luck! imp
