96 Explorer..starting problems
 

my 96 explorer will not start..it appears that the engine is not getting any fuel. It appears to be the fuel pump. Is there any way to check out the pump without removing it? Are there any other problems that would provide the same symptoms as a bad fuel pump?

I encountered this same problem with my 94 Explorer a few years ago. After diagnosing it my mechanic found it was a relay located in the engine compartment. On mine the relay box can be found on the passenger side over the wheel well and youshould see onemarked "fuel pump". Ended up being a $10 part. Might be worth a try. Good luck.

My 96 kept blowing a 20 amp fuse. Happened at least 3 times. Check all fuses in box at left side in back of engine compartment. Acted like it wasn't getting gas or no spark. All it turned out to be was a blowen fuse. I believe it was the fuse for the computer control.

My 96 explorer is acting weird.It ran fine at first when i bought it 2 months ago. Then one afternoon when I turned the key forward, I didnt hear the fuel pump kick on, but if you would give it a few hours, it would start. It did this off and on for roughly 2 weeks so I had the fuel pump replaced. This seemed to cure the problem because it started every time for 2 weeks straight, but then it started again. So I replaced the fuel filter and fuel relay fuse, and just like before, it ran fine for about 2 weeks and then started it again. Ive pretty much ran out of options. I dont know if its something electrical or something wrong with the fuel system, it just seems that something isnt telling the pump to kick on.

What did you end up finding as your problem?
I once had the same things going on as you did and it ended up being a loose connection at the fuel pump connector.
