99 Ford Explorer Intermittent Start

I have a 99 Ford Explorer with intermittent starting issues. Sometimes it starts just fine, sometimes it clicks and will eventually start, and then theres times that it doesnt click and wont start. In the instances where it doesnt start if i jump it, it starts immediately with no trouble. I have noticed that the temperature plays a part in when it acts up. If its colder out it does not want to start, like today: After sitting overnight for around 10 hours it was 70 out and started fine. This evening after work (9 hours later)the temp had dropped to around 45 and it would not start. I have already replaced the battery. I have cleaned the connections on the battery and the starter, and had the starter taken in and tested on a day it wouldnt start. I do not know a whole lot about working on vehicles just those basic things that ive already tried. Ive seen on many forums about 5 different possibilities and was hoping i could find something close since i would have to take it to a shop to have it worked on for most things. Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes battery cables themselves will cause this type problem when they have internal corrosion. Problems like this show up especially when the temp drops.

Thanks, that was actually one of the options that was suggested.
