They may have forgotton to reinstall the anti rattle clips on the front brake pads would be my first and simplest solution to your problem other solutions would involve just taking it back to the shop and make them double check that they have torqued everything properly after doing the ball joints. hope you get it figured out let us know if you find out anything new...

I'd check the pads also. I've seen inner pads left out and inner and outer pads put in backwards.

Could have a backing plate scrubbing the back of rotor? Mabey you needed brakes too and they did not tell you.

glad to hear you caught that in time! The thing with shops is they get in such a hurry to make that money that they leaveyou to have to recheck everything they do,, so why bother taking it to the shop in the first place. well at least thats why i would never take my car in anywhere. About the only thing id trust to a so called professional shop is maybe paint jobs and redoing interiors and thats only because Im unable to do it myself ,,,or actually i just dont have the desire to learn i guess. Trust me a shop can even turn a simple oil change into total engine failure with their halfassed work, leaveing drain plugs loose, loose filters, not even putting any oil back in after dumping old oil and installing new filter. If thats the kind of work so called certified auto techs are doing, for once Im glad to call myself a BACKYARD MECHANIC. Anyhow thats my 2 cents on shops
