Dash Sensor Lights Turning-on for ??

I have a '97 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4 - small V6, runs great - very reliable.
At the end of this Spring, a problem developed which I would like opinions on.
At city driving speeds, I have two (2) dash lights that flash - or stay on for a few
seconds - continously. This happens less at highway speeds, but a 3rd light comes
on while on the highway (that I don't see in the city). The sensor lights are the OD
(only on the highway), 4WD & 4WL lights. Only the lights flash - what they control
doesn't change. That is, OD stays on at highway speeds, 4WD never engages nor
does 4WL. However I can manually disengage the OD, or engage the 4WD or 4WL
features.

I have the 4" thick shop binders and it looks like one of the computers may be
responsible for this - but I hate buying one for nothing. I also don't have a code
tester for the Explorer, and I'm not sure its even posting a code!

Is this a common problem with the '97 or Explorers in general?

Thx for any help! ;)
