Dead in the Water

Hello everyone and thank you for your time. I'm new here and did not find anything in the forumns that was the exact same issue so here goes. It may be lenghty the 1st time, but I promise to follow up on anything as short as possible

2002 Explorer 6 banger- driving down road -just quit-no coughing learching jerking nothing. Battery was old so put a new one in, nothing - checked ALL fuses -nothing- followed wires from battery to ground to starter - nothing, all lights, power etc. there, just when turning over key - dead silence, no turn over, no clicking from starter (which I banged on) still nothing. If it was the fuel filter it should still turn over, just not start right? Thought if it was the starter I'd at least get a click? Like I said, all power from battery, just dead silence when turning on the key.
Any help would be fantasic, thank you

Welcome to the site . Does the vehicle contain any type of security / anti-theft system?

Yes, and far as I can tell from the manual, I have it off. Maybe I did something wrong

Hanky, also, would the anti theft just turn on while I was driving down the road? Is that a possibility?

If it malfunctions, yes.
