EGR Flow Insufficient

I have a 96 EB 5L V8. My check engine light is onand the code reads p0401, which is EGR flow insufficient. I cannot seem to find information on where to find the EGR valve. I have the Haynes repair manual, however it does not show where the EGR valve is for the V8 on the V6. Can anyone help me? Thanks

RE: EGR Flow Insufficient

I have an '02 Explorer and we changed the EGR valve recently. For mine it is in the back by the fire wall center engine. It was a booger to get to and change. The bolts were long and small threaded so it took a while to get it in and out. Good luck. Most parts stores will be glad to show you where to find it on your engine. Be sure to have the computer reset tho.

Sometimes the P0401 code does not mean change your egr. Make sure to check your dpfe sensor and hoses, and check the egr port on the throttle body for carbon build-up
