Default Heater/AC Blower

I have a '94 Explorer XLT and recently have been having a problem with the blower fan cutting off. It will be working fine blowing hot or cold air from the vents then nothing. There dosen't seem to be a reason for this (like going over a bump etc. indicating something loose) just one minute working fine, the next minute nothing even when standing still. Its really becoming annoying especially with 90+ degree temps this month. Anyone have any idea what this might be???

I had the same problem for like a year and found out it was a 5 dollar blower motor relay.

Either the blower resisitor is bad, or the switch is bad. You will see melted wiring at the switch if it overheated.

Thanks for the replies, I'm leaning towards the blower motor relay since it is so sporadic. I'll try replacing that and see what happens.

On my 94 the relay is located in the engine compartment on the left side (facing the engine from the front) behind the battery. There is a box with a bunch of relays and fuses in it, on the cap will tell what each one is or there is a list in your owners manual. Got the relay from the dealer for about $10. and just plug it in, been working great ever since.
