Horn on 01 Explorer died

Hi all, I'm a newbie here and I have a situation with my Ford. About a month ago, while parked and turned off, the horn on my 01 Explorer started blaring. Because there is no diagram on the fuse box, I couldn't figure out which one to pull. Anyway, after about 10 minutes of this, I smelled burned wire and the tone of the horn had changed. I'm not sure what it's called, but there is an upper and lower note. The lower note burned out and I was left with this Hyundai wannabe horn. That lasted about 2 weeks and then one day it just stopped working completely. Anyone else have this kind of problem? I know there has been a recall on the cruise control wiring harness and I have had that disconnected (replacement harness is on back order) by a Ford dealer. Also, where can I find a replacement horn? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

RE: Horn on 01 Explorer died

for a horn try here or autozone or oriellys http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...egoryCode=3074

as for the horn sticking on it may be the contacts where you push to make the horn toot...or it may have been a sticking relay..1st.. look in the owners manual for the location of the fuse and the relay..check the fuse to make sure it is good. 2nd .if you find the location of the relay you may be able to swap it out with a similar one ( like the fan relay etc )
here is what the horn relay looks like

if you smelled burnt wires you must find them and repair..the smell might have been just the horn frying.. good luck..hope this helps a little..
