Default Load thumping noise coming from tire?

I just bought a 2008 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD used about a month ago and I'm experiencing thumping noise coming from driver's side front tire. When I check the tire with my hands the tire tread is very uneven with peaks and valleys which I am lead to believe is causing the thumping noise. I still got the ford warrenty on it until 30k miles but would it cover this type of repair?

The uneven tire wear will cause the noise that you are hearing.

Uneven tire wear is normally caused by one of the following:

1. Tire pressure
2. Bad tie-rod
3. Toe in/out
4. Camber
5. Bad shock(s)

Was the tire like this when you bought it? Or has it progressively worn to the condition that it's presently in?
