Default Major trans leak

I have a 2007 explorer with the 4.0 v6. The trans suddenly started pouring out fluid from between the engine the bell housing of the trans. It only does it while the engine is running. I've had one mechanic say it's the front seal and another say I need to overhaul the trans. Both were only spoken to over the phone about it without looking at it first hand. I'm afraid to drive it anywhere in fear of burning the trans up before I get it to a shop, even if I fill it up with fluid. Before the leak started it shifted fine with no noise to speak of.

Trans has "90,000" and is second trans. Guy before me replaced it with a private seller's trans after the original trans started making noise shifting hard and sluggish shifting. Vehicle has 240,000.

I'm curious if the seal dry rotted and blew out from possible sun exposure sitting outside in the weather. The trans was swapped a month ago before he sold it to me and the guy who sold the vehicle to me drove it everyday.
