Default misfire cylinder 4 ????

My 99 Explorer has been rough running first thing after a cold start up for a couple weeks. The check engine light came on Monday. The mechanic said it was a misfire cylinder 4 and that it could be a cracked cylinder head. Yikes! They don't for sure but they saw coolant in with the spark plugs. (not a good sign, I know). They also told me that they wouldn't know for sure until they took it all apart and did a pressure test on the cylinder. If it is a cracked cylinder repairs are estimated at $2500. I'm thinking I should just throw in the towel and trade it in. Any advice or opinions would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends on how much you like the truck and what kind of deal they'd give you...the truck is 6 years old as it stands and if you've got the money, I'd consider trading it in cause once them things start that kind of bs, it's usually down hill from there...

Oh man, I have cylinder 3 misfire over and over again and one time they said they think coolant leaked in the spark plug too. I don't know for sure. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer too and I was thinking of trading it in, but like Sabretooth said, what kind of deal are we really gonna get for it. After changing all the spark plug wires it runs smoother and doesn't idle rough after a cold start up anymore but a few days later the check engine light came back on with the same cylinder 3 misfire. At this point I don't know what to do about it.

yes this has been a problem on higher mileage motors , There is a product on the market called Block seal it's a tad pricey I think $300.00 but if it was mine I would be willing to try it , I understand they have a money back offer ? , be something to look into !!![sm=massbounce.gif]
