More InfoEngine Light
1996 Explorer YELLOW check engine light on. Is this emissions? how do I reset?

RE: More InfoEngine Light
It could be anything, Any sensor that gave a reading out of spec. You need to go somewhere, like autozone or pepboys to read it, And to reset the codes, they have to do it with the reader usually

yeah, they'll use an ob2 or something to that nature, your mechanic should have one as well, but autozone usually does it for free if i'm not much mistaken...anyways, those codes will tell you what is wrong...

RE: More InfoEngine Light
Autozone does it for free...or You can purchase a ODB2 SCAN tool there for about $80 that will work on all 1996 and later US made autos. A good investment if you work on your own autos and all your friends will love you forever!. I have one and it takes you straight to the problem.
It could be just about anything from an O2 sensor to an EGR Valve. The SCAN tool will tell you what code is stored and what it means! |
RE: More InfoEngine Light
is the tool available at Auto Zone autoparts store?. Will it work for my Ford Explorer 2000?. Please advise. Thanks

RE: More InfoEngine Light
Hey Mike
This is not a emissions problem. It could be where you are buying your gas. But to reset your light all you have to do is remove your neg lead to the battery for about 5 minutes to reset the computer |
