Default Oil leak

I purchased a 2002 Ford Explorer with the 4.6 in it I don't know what kind of oil was in it there was a Walmart sticker several years old that said Castrol on it I decided to use Castrol high mileage after several thousand miles I decided to change it. I put in Valvoline maxlife blend after about several hundred miles I noticed that on pavement it was Dripping oil from the oil pain it appeared i cant be 100% so I immediately drain the oil out and went back to Castrol high mileage drove around for a little while didnt seem to be leaking yet but the oil i drained the max life was pretty dark already im assuming that the oil was cleaning out sludge probably caused it to leak I'm hoping with the Castrol high mileage that it won't leak anymore but who knows if it starts back i may use stp oil stop leak? or that blue devil stop leak ?

Welcome to the site..

I’d doubt the oil brand swap would have caused a leak. How many miles are on your Explorer?
Id try and ID the origin of the oil leak before any additives used to attempt to stop it.
Most stop leak products use solvents to soften and/or swell oil seals. If it’s leaking from a gasket, drain plug, chemical bond type seal, they’re generally not very effective..
