Power Windows

My front drivers side window just stopped working one day and I checked and the window was still on track and I could hear the motor try to work. So my best guess is the motor is bad or the gear is bad. Has this happened to anyone? How much does it cost to fix?

RE: Power Windows

If you can hear the motor running and the window doesn't move, it is very likely the power window bushings within the motor. It is not an extremely difficult repair. I fixed three windows in my 92 Explorer in 2 to 3 hours one evening. Go to the HELP! parts area in your local AutoZone and find part number 74410. It's three 1/2" x 1/2" nylon bushings. Then look at Power Window Repair w/ Pics. Hopefully that is all it is. I believe the parts cost me $7.99 each. Not bad when you consider I repaired 3 windows for MUCH less than what it would of cost to have someone else do it.

However, I could not even guess what the cost to have someone else do the repair.
