Default rear end vibrating while accelerating!

1992 Ford Explorer V6 4WD
My rear end vibrates loud when I accelerate past 2500 RPMs. I was told it might be my axles and after we lifted my truck we turned the wheels and found play on both sides. My mechanic is gonna start disassembling stuff in a few days to see where the problem lies. Any ideas? Thanks in advanced!

Some in and out play is normal any up and down play is bad.
Is the vibration vech speed related or engine speed related?

okay, I got it!! It was my u-joint! to think I was getting ready to spend hundreds on parts and labor. I did the work yesterday and my total cost was $17! That was the whole cause of the vibration. No more vibration. One of the caps it has on the U-joints was cracked, causing the driveshaft to have play. I read through some other forums and found others with similar symptoms and so I checked mine and sure enough, my u-joint. Thank you for your time jr78!
