From my research with my 2008, I found that the Liftgate on the Explorers of this time are notorious for causing problems. The liftgate is in the top 5 problems.
1. Sensor problems - the liftgate sensor can go off/on because -
a. the glass wobbling
b. the hinges being compromised.
c. The wires leading to the sensor are compromised.
2. Wear and Tear- Because the trunk button on the key fob controls the glass and not the entire liftgate it often gets released and people drive with the glass lock released. the glass then rattles (*a above) and can damage the release over time.
3. The key fob no longer works (recent upgrade or new one) or fuse needs replacing.

What would you like help with specifically that is causing it not to open? The hinge? The release? The key fob signal/ fuse/sensor?
