rear wiper failure?

hi.

i have a rear wiper that fails to work. i have replaced the motor 2 times. when i plug it in it cycles until i turn off the switch or key. it then fails to turn back on. if i plug it in at the gate it will lite the interior lites and they remain on. i don't know if the wipers are controlled by the computer or just a set of switches and relays. where can i go on-line to find a download able wiring diagram for the mountaineer? i did locate a wire rubbing to ground in the engine bay that is in the area of the wipers and a control module that is in the firewall, could this wire case the control modules to go bad? do you know if the pcm or other module will set a code for this problem? and if so how do i retrieve it? thanks
