I got an 02' ford explorer 4.0l v6 my questuion is do you have to take the tensioner pully off to change a belt i've just about got the bolt out and was afraid to as i didn't know if i could get it back on.

No if you are trying to change the belt.There should be a square hole by the tensioner .Put a 1/2 inch drive ratchet in there and pull it one way or the other to release tension on the belt.Thighten the bolt if this thing get's loose you may get hurt
